Herzlich Wilkommen at Soodehof Eins!
In the middle of the fairytale-like Reinhardswald forest in Hofgeismar stands the first German FarmCamps farm run by farmer Günther, farmer’s wife Juliane and their two sons. In less than half an hour’s drive you can reach the fairytale capital Kassel, where the Brothers Grimm wrote fairytales and legends almost 200 years ago… and the story of this nice couple would have fitted in perfectly there.
Juliane has been living in the big city for years when, out of love for horses, she meets farmer Günther again at an event in her home region. Sparks fly during this visit and things immediately take off and Juliane decides to move back to Hombressen for her prince charming.
With 200 hectares of arable land, 140 dairy cows and just as many young cattle, Soodehof Eins is both an arable and dairy farm. They attach great importance to sustainability and therefore practise recycling management. For example, the cows’ excrement is fed into the biogas plant, which generates enough green electricity for the village! The manure that remains is spread on the fields as fertiliser for the plants. Some of it is then used as fodder for the cows. And so the circle closes again 😉.
The animals feel at home on this beautiful, spacious farm. For example, the cows have spacious cubicles, delicious cow brushes and year-round access to pasture. Thanks to this good care for the cows, the milk has the highest German animal welfare seal. Milking is done by two milking robots, but farmer Günther will be happy to show you how a cow is milked by hand and how he manages the rest of the large farm. How cool is that!
Soodehof Eins is a paradise for animal lovers. Not only can you help with the cows, but you can also look after the calves, chickens, dogs, sheep, goats and lots of horses and ponies. The latter two are the great love of farmer Juliane, so there is plenty to do for horse lovers. From grooming your own pony to pony riding under the enthusiastic guidance of Juliane herself. And those who already have some experience can go for a forest ride themselves in the beautiful woods behind the farm.
Children can also let off steam here. There is a large playground with climbing frame, trampoline, sandpit and bird’s nest swing. Or discover the farm with the pedal tractor or play in the hay. Juliane and her staff also organise all kinds of activities, such as a torchlight hike through the forest, craft sessions and maybe staff member Christian will take you for a tractor ride! As you can read, you won’t be bored for a single moment on this farm.
For a super farm experience in a beautiful setting in Germany, you’ve come to the right place with this hospitable and lovely family. Fairytales come true here 😉.
