Extraordinary holidays with children

Stay on a real farm

A unique holiday for the whole family

Camping on a farm is a unique experience for the whole family. Because, admit it, you too enjoy seeing a calf being born. And not only the kids enjoy learning how to milk a cow. Exactly. When will you get the opportunity to experience Dutch farm life up close? At least the children will not be bored: the farmer has to be helped to feed the animals, fresh milk has to be tasted and, with any luck, butter or yoghurt has to be made. By the end of the holidays, it will no longer be a secret for you how milk gets into the pack in the supermarket and what has to happen for eggs to end up in an egg carton.

Waking up among the animals

What is so nice and special about camping on a farm is that you wake up among the sheep, rabbits, calves and cows. There are even farms where you can rent a grooming pony, or how about a real alpaca farm? Besides, there is plenty to do. During the day, the kids can help the farmer collect eggs, shear sheep and milk the cows. But, of course they can also play or hide and seek in the hay barn. And how about building tree houses together, playing with go-karts or making sand cakes in the sandpit? It's all possible!

Every day on the farm is special

A lamb, foal or calf may just be born. And you can just be there! And what about escaped chickens, horses that need brushing or the farmer who spontaneously decides to light a big campfire in the evening? At an unexpected moment, you may just be invited for cow cuddling. That seems to be very relaxing. Or how about yoga among the alpacas or a game of golf among the cows. There is plenty to do on the farm!

Come sleep in very special glamping tents

The glamping tents on our farms are different. Not only because they are in the middle of the animals, but also because they look slightly different from the glamping tents you may be used to. For example, there is a glamping tent with a sleeping loft and a glamping tent with a bath trailer where you can have a nice bath. Some glamping tents have a Hay House; this is a playhouse and box bed all in one.

You will find these special accommodations on the nicest farms in the Netherlands. It is quiet, cosy and small-scale. This gives you all the peace and quiet you need. Moreover, parents do not need to worry about cars driving around, as they are not allowed on the grounds. In short, the kids can play and run around. Very important for a holiday with children!

How are the glamping tents furnished?

There are several glamping tents on our FarmCamps farms. Our tents are fully equipped. Of course you will sleep in nice beds and in each tent there is a nice sofa and a table to play games. The kitchen is also fully equipped: there is a gas cooker, running water, a small fridge and a good espresso machine. And, of course, lots of kitchen inventory. Many of our tents also have an outdoor fireplace by the tent. This way, you can also enjoy the outdoors in the evening.

Good to know: there is no microwave or oven in the tent.

Do we have our own shower in the tent?

It is certainly possible! If you choose one of our Ranch Tents, then you will have a private bathroom with shower and bath next to the tent. If you choose a Farm Tent, Barn Tent or Lodge Tent (our most luxurious tent) you can even shower inside the tent. If you choose another tent, you can shower in the heated sanitary building on the farm.

Is there enough to do for the children on the farm?

Absolutely, boredom is really impossible! The children can help the farmer with all kinds of farm chores. Milking the cows, cleaning the stables or brushing the horses.

But there is also good play to be had on the farm! Building tree houses, racing around on the bicycle cross-country track, playing in the hay barn, sliding down the cable car, swinging, go-karting, playing football. Something for everyone! On our book page you can select by activity very easily. That way, you can be sure your children's favourite activities are included.

What can we do in case of bad weather?

Of course, in the Netherlands it can always happen that the weather is a bit less nice. Fortunately, there is a game box in every tent that will keep you entertained on a rainy morning.

But, even in bad weather, the cows need to be milked and the animals fed. Of course, work on the farm continues as usual. The farmer also needs your help inside to feed the horses and cows, and to sweep and muck out the stables.

On what kind of farms can we stay?

There are a lot of different farms. How about an arable farm, an alpaca farm, an organic farm, a cheese farm, a dairy farm, a horse farm, a sheep farm, a play and learning farm or a cattle farm.

Can friends or family visit the farm?

At many of our farms, day guests are absolutely welcome, but for a fee. The fee varies from farm to farm, but is usually not very much. Think a few euros per guest, per day. Check with the farmer(s) on arrival.
