  • Exciting: get lost in maze park Bakkeveen with three different mazes.
  • A ride on the Pannekoektrein in Marrum: guaranteed fun...AND tasty.
  • Visiting the Fries Scheepvaart Museum: fun for young and old alike!
  • Harlingen's port should definitely be admired.
  • Of course, the Afsluitdijk & the Wadden Centre are not to be missed.
  • Leeuwarden has been named Europe's cultural capital, so definitely worth a visit!
  • National Park de Alde Feanen is beautiful: you can go cycling and hiking.
  • And you can also enjoy going to the beach. The beaches around the IJsselmeer are perfect for taking walks and building sandcastles.

Staying on a FarmCamps farm in Friesland? These are the frequently asked questions.

How is the glamping tent furnished?

Your own tent is fully furnished and equipped. You sleep in nice beds and there is a relaxing sofa and a big table in each tent to play games. In the kitchen there is running water, a gas cooker, a small fridge ánd a good espresso machine. And, of course, plenty of kitchen inventory. Many of our tents also have an outdoor fireplace by the tent. Good to know: there is no microwave or oven in the tent.

We have different types of tents: you can choose from a Luxury Safari tent, Luxury Farm tent or Luxury Lodgetent, among others. Check them all out here! Whichever tent you choose; they are all child-friendly accommodation.

Unfortunately, our tents do not include a standard cot and/or high chair. Our baby package does include a cot (and a high chair and changing mat). You can rent these for €16.

Is there actually enough to do during a FarmCamps holiday on the farm?

Absolutely! There is plenty to do for young and old on the farm. You can help the farmer take care of the animals or do chores in the fields. There is also always plenty to play with in the yard: how about go-karts, trampolines and sandboxes? Moreover, the farmer and farmer's wife often devise fun activities.

There is, of course, plenty to explore in Friesland. How about a ride on De Pannekoektrein in Marrum, a visit to the Fries Scheepvaart Museum or the port of Harlingen?

Can I stay overnight at a FarmCamps farm with a young baby?

Absolutely!

Holidaying on a small-scale holiday park in Friesland: what if the weather is bad?

Should it be chilly, we recommend dressing in layers. Keep in mind that it can be chilly inside the tent if it is cold or windy outside. So bring nice warm clothes for the evenings.

If rain is forecast, we recommend you bring rubber boots and proper rainwear for the children. Also remember some old clothes for the kids, as they are guaranteed to get dirty playing on the farm. With the Dutch weather, you better be prepared.

Does every farm have the same play equipment?

Each FarmCamps farm has different play equipment and play facilities. But, there is always something for young and old to play with. Every FarmCamps farm has an Animal Meadow and/or Cuddle Barn.

Can we join the activities with the whole family?

Children aged 6 or older can participate independently in almost all FarmCamps activities (unless otherwise specified). Children under 6 years old may also participate in FarmCamps activities, but only under the supervision of parents or a sibling aged 13 or older.
