On the farm of farmer Willem-Mathijs, farmer Anne and their daughters Evi and Nina, you step into the wonderful world of the alpaca. Here, you walk among these curious, gentle animals and discover how special life with alpacas really is.

Anne’s parents ran a dairy farm here for many years, but in 2013 Anne and Willem-Mathijs changed course and wholeheartedly chose alpacas. A special decision that even started with a marriage proposal from Willem-Mathijs at an alpaca show. And of course, Anne said YES! Today, a herd of more than 80 alpacas roams the farm and around 20 crias are born each year. There’s a good chance you might witness a birth yourself, as the birthing season runs from May to August. An unforgettable and truly special moment. The alpacas are cared for with great love. In May they are sheared and part of their wool is used to make wonderfully warm duvets. The rest is spun into yarn for hand spinners. Despite their soft coats, alpacas aren’t real cuddle animals, but they are curious and love to eat from your hand. While they quietly nibble away, you can gently stroke their woolly fleece or take a photo together. On this farm, it’s not just about watching, but about experiencing. Walk with the alpacas through the forest, enjoy lunch among the herd or savour a freshly baked pizza at the cosy Alpaca Bar, right in the middle of the animals. Being this close to them is something truly special. There is plenty to do around the yard as well. Race around on go-karts, bake mud pies in the mud kitchen, jump on the trampoline or cuddle with the cats and rabbits. Together with the alpacas, it makes for a holiday full of peace, fun and wonder.

Where do I sleep?

At Alpaca Vorstenbosch, the 15 luxury tents are set up on a cozy field with a view of the alpaca pastures. From your tent, you can walk straight to the Alpacabar and play field. Note: The sweet farm cats love to hang out in the tent. If this bothers you, choose the Ranch Tent. It has a door, so they can't easily sneak into the tent. There is also a holiday home for 6 people on the farm that can be rented, which you can book via the Alpaca Vorstenbosch website.

Fun and Educational

Your farm adventure would not be complete without learning a few things about farm life. The alpaca carers are happy to teach you everything you need to know. You will start your first morning with the Alpaca Experience.

During this introduction, you will learn more about the alpacas, help feed them and take a short walk around the farm with one of these adorable creatures. On the other days, you can help feed the alpacas and take care of the rabbits, chickens and cats. You can also participate in a workshop where you will make a key ring out of wonderfully soft wool.

The alpacas also need to be mated from time to time, so you might just witness that. And if you're lucky, a foal might be born while you're there!

During check-in all children are offered a Farmer’s Passport from FarmCamps. These are loaded with fun and educational activities which they can do independently or together with one of the staff members. Your mini-farmers can discover and experience real life on a farm.

If you are more into playing, you will definitely get your money’s worth on the farm too. Go tobogganing, trampolining or messing about in the mud kitchen. Here there are no rules – just enjoy yourself!

The activities listed below can be booked on site. In addition, there are also activities that guests from outside the farm come to enjoy, such as picnic among the alpacas, pizza tasting in the Alpaca Lounge, or the long Alpaca walk through the forest, which is particularly suitable for adults and older children. It is best to book these activities in advance via the farm's own website Alpaca Vorstenbosch. Please note that you do not need to book the Meet & Greet and Alpaca experience on our website, as this is already included in your stay.

Convenient and delicious

Looking for ultimate relaxation? If you ordered breakfast at the tent, it will be delivered to your tent. Prefer fresh rolls? You can easily order these the day before and they will be delivered to your tent in the morning.

On the farm you will also find the Alpacabar where you can enjoy a drink, lunch or high-tea. And in fine weather, you can take a seat on the terrace with a view of the alpacas. The alpacabar is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and more often during holiday periods.

Don’t feel like piles of laundry upon your return home? Then order the Towel Package and rent the one and only FarmCamps farmer’s overalls for the kids. They will look like a farmer and don’t get their clothes so dirty!

All these extras can be ordered at the time of booking. But of course you can also order them on the spot.

This is all there is to do nearby

From our experience, it is quite possible that you may not even leave the farm during your stay. This is simply because there is so much to do at FarmCamps Vorstenbosch, that children happily entertain themselves all day long. What more can parents ask for?

For those who enjoy a bit of sightseeing, there is plenty to see and do in the near vicinity. Nature reserve “Bedafse Bergen” is ideal for hiking, building huts or sliding down the sand dunes. Alternatively take a “whisper-boat” tour on the Aa river and learn about the surrounding area.
