Het verblijf op de Sodenhof was weer heerlijk. Super mooie locatie en de eigenaren zijn hele aardige mensen, die alles voor je willen regelen.

Herzlich Willkommen to Soodehof Eins! Just half an hour from the fairy tale capital of Kassel, you’ll find the German farm of farmer Günther, farmer’s wife Juliane and their children. Here, you don’t have to choose: there are horses to ride, ponies to groom and cows to cuddle, all in the heart of the enchanting German countryside. Ready for your fairy tale farm adventure?

In the very place where the Brothers Grimm wrote their fairy tales and legends nearly 200 years ago, you’ll find Soodehof Eins — the farm of farmer Günther, farmer’s wife Juliane and their children… and their own love story could easily have been part of those old tales. Juliane, a true city girl, met farmer Günther when she visited a local event because of her love for horses. Although both originally from Hombressen, they had never met before. But during that visit, sparks flew instantly. It was love at first sight, and Juliane decided to return to Hombressen for her prince on a white horse. With 200 hectares of farmland, 140 dairy cows, just as many young calves and over 20 horses and ponies, Soodehof Eins is a fully working arable, dairy and horse farm. Sustainability is very important to the family, which is why they operate according to circular farming principles. The cows’ manure is used in a biogas installation that produces enough green electricity for the entire village. What’s left is used as natural fertilizer for the crops, which in turn are used to feed the cows. And that’s how the circle comes full. Soodehof Eins is a true paradise for horse lovers, young and old. The entire family loves to ride and enjoys sharing this passion with their guests. You can groom your own pony, take riding lessons with Juliane or one of her enthusiastic team members, or go for a walk in the forest with a pony. Experienced riders can even explore the surrounding woods and hills on horseback. Adults are welcome to ride too. Of course, there’s plenty of space for kids to play. There’s a big meadow with a climbing frame, trampoline, sandbox and bird’s nest swing. Or dive into the stables to play in the hay. Juliane and her team also organise all kinds of activities, such as archery, a campfire evening, and if there’s time, team member Christian might take you for a ride on the tractor. As you can tell, there’s never a dull moment on this farm. For an unforgettable farm holiday in a beautiful part of Germany, this energetic family offers the perfect experience. Where do I sleep?

At Soodehof Eins, there are 3 luxury Barn Tents with air conditioning and private bathroom with bathtub. From the tent you have a beautiful view of the forest. On this farm, it is also possible to stay with your own camping equipment on one of the three camping pitches. There are also 2 holiday homes, 1 cottage and 2 family rooms on the farm that can be rented.

Fun and Educational

No farm adventure would be complete without learning a thing or two from the professionals. And farmer’s wife Juliane and her staff personally make sure of that.

Here you can do all kinds of things with the lovely ponies. Cuddling, brushing, walking, taking riding lessons or going for a ride through the neighbouring woods. You are also always welcome to take a look in the cowshed. Here you can stroke calves and watch the cows being milked by the milking robot.

The farm’s location by the forest is also ideal for hiking and cycling enthusiasts. Put on your sportiest clothes and explore the forest on foot or by bike! If it’s hot, you can also cool off in the shallow De Soode stream that flows behind the farm.

Convenient and delicious

Looking for ultimate relaxation? If you don’t feel like making your own breakfast, farmer Juliane will make a delicious breakfast for you and deliver it to your tent.

If you fancy some really fresh milk straight from the cow, you can have a bottle filled every day.

Near the farm there are 2 farm shops where you can buy fresh produce. And if you don’t feel like cooking yourself, join the barbecues that are organised weekly from May onwards.

Don’t feel like piles of laundry upon your return home? Then order the Towel Package and rent the one and only FarmCamps farmer’s overalls for the kids. They will look like a farmer and don’t get their clothes so dirty!

All these extras can be ordered when booking or upon arrival on the farm.

We know from experience that you are unlikely to leave the farmyard. Simply because there is so much to do at FarmCamps Soodehof Eins and the kids won’t be bored for a minute. And then the parents have a good time too, right?

If you want to see something of the area, there are many possibilities near the farm. Popular activities near Soodehof Eins are hiking, cycling, kayaking and canoeing on the Diemel. For the adventurous, there are opportunities for climbing and abseiling in the nearby mountains. Culture lovers can visit Sleeping Beauty Castle in Hofgeismar or Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel. There are also many restaurants and cafés where you can enjoy local specialities and socialising. There is plenty to do for an unforgettable holiday!
