It was both love at first sight when farmer Martijn met Naduah and when they first saw the farm “De Bosrand”. In December 2020 they took over the dairy farm from farmers Jacob and Ellis who had enjoyed running this FarmCamps location since 2014.
By taking over the farm their mutual dreams came true, as they weren’t just looking for a beautiful place to live, but also a way to share their love for animals with their guests.
As the dairy farming part of “De Bosrand” has now been decommissioned, many other kinds of animals will find their new home here. Cute ponies, donkeys and alpacas are already on their way, so you will most definitely find a wild bunch of animals when you get here. Everything will be about taking care of and looking after the animals, which you’re welcome to join in. You can take the ponies and donkeys for a stroll through the woods adjacent to the campsite. As the alpacas are still young, they are yet to be tamed. Will you come and help?
De Bosrand has a lot to offer those guests who like to keep active too. Being a former sports teacher, farmer Naduah is eager to host sporting activities, such as supping on the water of a former “sand quarry” opposite the farm. If you have never even heard of supping, then farmer Naduah is happy to teach you all about it. Those with supping experience are challenged to try a yoga session on the SUP. Cyclists will love this area as the woods which are found directly opposite the farm, are perfect for exploring on a mountain bike. Bike hire is available on site.
Farmers Martijn and Naduah warmly invite you to come and stay at their new paradise.
This beautiful farm is located at the edge of a large, stunning forest. From your tent you can walk straight into the woods where you can take a refreshing dip in its beautiful lake.
At FarmCamps De Bosrand you can choose from one of our 14 luxury, fully equipped Safari Tents including a private toilet. Showers are in the nearby heated bathing facilities. Or you can treat yourself to a little extra luxury with one of our 6 fully equipped Lodge Tents including private bathrooms.
This FarmCamps farm is located on a quiet forest road and is surrounded by woods, meadows and fields. On this farm our luxury tents are spread over several fields.
The Lodge Tents are all situated adjacent to the forest, where the trees provide much wanted shade to cool down on hot days. The Safari Tents look out over the paddock or on open pasture where you can watch the ponies graze.
The site also offers space for guests who wish to bring their own camping equipment. In the summer and spring breaks there are a maximum of 40 spots. This is a friendly farm with many visitors so there will be plenty of play-buddies for your mini-farmers!
Your farm adventure wouldn’t be complete without learning new things whilst on the farm and farmers Martijn and Naduah will personally make sure that you do. Every day you can help farmer Naduah to feed and look after the animals on the farm. The ponies love to be brushed, groomed and cuddled. If you love animals you can do it all!
During check-in all children are offered a Farmer’s Passport from FarmCamps. These are loaded with fun and educational activities which they can do independently or together with their farmer. Your mini-farmers can discover and experience real life on a farm. For each completed task they will receive a stamp in their Farmer’s Passport. When their work is done they will graduate with their own farmhand diploma!
During each stay the farmers Martijn and Naduah give a guided tour of the farm, otherwise known as, “Tour de Boer”. You get to know your way around, become acquainted with the animals they keep and learn about all there is to do during your stay.
You get to know the farm and hear of some special tales relating to the farm itself.

Many sweet ponies live at De Bosrand. Of course, they like to be brushed and cuddled. Naturally, you can help with this. There is a large paddock and cleaning area where you can admire all the ponies. Check the activity board to see when the pony activities take place.
Farmer Martijn regularly takes the guests for a ride through the surrounding area in the covered trailer, towed by the tractor. Don’t be surprised if you spot deer in the meadow!
Don’t you want or can’t you ride a pony yet, but do you like to have your ‘own’ pony? Then rent a cuddle pony during your holiday. You will then get your “own” sweet shetlander that you can take care of, brush, of course cuddle a lot and go for a daily walk in the yard. Please note: the cuddle ponies cannot be ridden.
Parents can take their children out for a ride on one of our ponies through the adjacent Drente-province forest. Riding experience is not required and you will be given a map with an outline of the route hence you get to do it alone. Children from the age of 3 onwards are allowed to ride the ponies whilst parents are walking next to them holding the reins.
Stand-Up-Paddling, also known as SUP, are floating boards that you stand on as you use one long paddle to steer. They can be hired from the farm to use to paddle on the water of the former sand quarry located opposite the farm. You can even take lessons from farmer Naduah.
Do you love ponies and would you like to ride one of the sweet shetland ponies and small ponies? Instructor Lisanne takes you through everything that comes with driving. From getting the sweet ponies out of the meadow, brushing, saddle up and of course great riding. A pony lesson takes about 60 minutes.
The alpacas of De Bosrand can’t wait to walk with our guests through the forest around the farm and secretly snack on each leaf.
The walk takes about 1.5 hours. Children under the age of 12 always accompany an alpaca together with an adult.
At FarmCamps De Bosrand you can find a cool corn maze from the beginning of July to the end of October. For the little ones there is a special children’s maze, looking for a little more excitement? Then get lost in the large maze of more than 2 hectares!
