Calf love at FarmCamps De Kalverliefde!
In the Limburgian town of Stramproy, situated against the border with Belgium, you will find the farm of farmer Johan and his wife Anna, who live here with their two teenage children Sem and Jasmijn and their farm dog Max. This lovely couple met each other at a mushroom farm when they were young and fell in love. Johan, the son of a dairy farmer, took teacher training but got drawn into the farm life. Anna, who is crazy about animals, was up for this too. They started with agriculture and horticulture and later they expanded the business with rosé veal calves and other animals.
All the corn that Johan cultivates is used for cattle-fodder and it is very well possible that carrots, peas, beans and salsifies in your cupboard originate from this farm! Not just a love for calves, but also for vegetables!
The rosé veal calves, who stay here from the age of 10 weeks up until they are 8 months old, are kept in the stable and are lovingly taken care of. Together with farmer’s wife Anna, you can help to queue up food for the calves and give out vitamins in the stable. Do you want to cuddle an adorable calf? There is a cuddle barn with several little calves who are waiting to be petted and fed. The other animals on the farm are crazy about nice food too! You will find nandus (a kind of ostrich, only smaller) on the farm, along with bunnies, geese, chickens, cats, kittens and alpacas. The cute cuddle alpaca Tommy can’t wait for you to come pet him!
When you are not busy cuddling or feeding animals, the farm is a great place to play. You can go crossing across the property in go-carts, jump on the trampoline or have a nice swing on the swing set. Or would you rather bake cakes in the mud kitchen, build huts in the forest or play a game of football with your new friends? As you can read, there is plenty to do at FarmCamps De Kalverliefde. Calf love may be temporary, but hopefully, we will enjoy this wonderful place in Limburg for a very long time.
What a great choice!
Enjoying nature on the border with Belgium!
This is what makes this farm so much fun!
Close to the border between the Netherlands and Belgium, the farm of Johan and his wife Anna is situated. The farm is surrounded by a beautiful environment. In a few minutes, you can walk to the Stamprooise Heide or the nature reserves Stamprooierbroek and Kempen-Broek. If you’re lucky, you will come across wild boars, Highlanders or a beaver, or spot lots of different kinds of birds and butterflies. By the way, did you know that this used to be an area with smugglers and that there were many secret smuggling routes? Isn’t that exciting!
At De Kalverliefde, you will be staying in one of our 10 luxury tents. They are situated in a large field with a view of the playing activities and can be reached over a paved path.
There are two types of tents to choose from. Will you go for the luxury Barntent with sleeping loft, kitchen with dishwasher and bathroom with toilet, bathtub and shower? Or do you prefer the luxury Farmtent with bunk bed and bathroom with toilet, sink and a lovely shower?

Culture
The village of Thorn is one of the most visited places in Limburg and is known as ‘the white village’ because of its white-washed brick houses in the center of town. For more than eight centuries it was the capital of a small principality and there is much to see and do here. It is a very attractive town, perfect for strolling through and enjoying an ice-cream or drink at one of its cafés.

The town of Weert is also known as ‘the gate of Limburg’. Go here for a day of shopping or the cool ‘street art tour’, before settling down at one of the cosy terraces you find in town.
