We hebben het echt heel erg leuk gehad! Zeker met de pony's en super lieve Boerin Karin

Farmer Karin and her family provide an unforgettable holiday on their cozy horse farm in the Kaatsheuvel municipality, where Shetland ponies steal the show and the pigs, goats, chickens and rabbits are hungry for your attention. Close to the Efteling themepark.
Not everything in Kaatsheuvel is a fairy tale, because this beautiful and welcoming horse farm really exists! This is where farmer Karin lives with her husband Dennis and their older children Mees, Suus and Faas. Farmer Karin is a true hostess at heart. She loves to chat and make everyone feel at home. Karin’s parents live right next to the farm and you’ll often run into farmer Cees, Karin’s father, during your stay. On this horse farm you’ll find not only the family’s own horses and ponies, but also six boarding horses. Farmer Karin’s herd now includes more than 30 horses, ponies and lots of Shetlanders. And those sweet Shetland ponies are the real stars here. They are incredibly kind, reliable and completely used to being around children. De Smulhoeve is a true paradise for young horse lovers. Here, you can rent your very own Care Pony and spend your holiday looking after it. From grooming and mucking out the stables to enjoying an hour of riding each day in the outdoor arena or indoor riding hall. Even if you’re not allowed or don’t want to ride yet, your horse-loving heart will still be very happy here. Book a Cuddle Pony and you can spend your holiday cuddling, pampering and walking your pony around the yard. You can also join the pony walk to the Loonse en Drunense Dunes. There’s something for everyone. Besides the horses and ponies, the farm is home to many other friendly animals. The soft and cuddly alpacas love going on a walk with you around the farm. And the pigs, the adorable goats, the chickens, and the sweet cats and rabbits can’t wait for your cuddles either. It’s a delightful animal mix, to say the least. Prefer to play? Kick a ball on the field around the tents, hop on one of the go-karts, practice tricks on the trampoline or get wonderfully messy at the sand and water play area. There’s endless fun to be had on the farm. At FarmCamps De Smulhoeve you’ll never be bored. And if you do feel like exploring a little, you can cycle to the Efteling or walk straight into the Loonse en Drunense Dunes.

Where do I sleep?

At De Smulhoeve, you stay in one of the 19 luxury tents, all situated around a large field at the back of the farm. From the tent, you have a view of the playing kids and are surrounded by meadows with horses and ponies, as well as the cows of the neighbors. You sleep in a Lodge or Barn Tent with your own bathroom in the tent, or you can choose a Ranch Tent with a Hay Hay Bath trailer next to the tent.

Fun and Educational

No farm adventure would be complete without learning a thing or two from the professionals. And that is what farmer Karin personally takes care of. Here, everything revolves around the sweet shetlanders and ponies. If you have booked a cuddly pony, you can cuddle it, groom it and take it for a walk on the farm. Would you like to ride as well? Then a grooming pony is just the thing for you! But of course you can also help feed the pigs, alpacas, goats, chickens and rabbits. The real cuddlers can lie down in the hay with the bunnies and enjoy those soft snouts that curiously come and sniff at you.

If you are more into playing, you will also find what you are looking for in this yard. There is a hay barn, go-karts to tear around on and a large playing field in the middle of the tent site where you can enjoy playing football, trampolining or messing about with sand. Or live it up on the tennis court.

Don’t feel like cooking yourself? Twice a week, Karin prepares delicious fresh pizza for you. For dessert, you can enjoy a delicious organic farm ice cream!

No one likes going home with a bag of dirty washing, Then order the Towel Pack and rent the one and only FarmCamps farmer’s overall for the kids. This way they look just like a farmer and their clothes don’t get so dirty either!

You can order all your extras at the point of booking, but if you are not sure yet don’t worry, you can also order them on the spot.

This is all there is to do nearby

We know from experience that you are unlikely to leave the farmyard. Simply because there is so much to do at FarmCamps De Smulhoeve and the kids won’t be bored for a minute. And then the parents have a good time too, right?

If you do want to see something of the surrounding area, this part of North Brabant has plenty to offer. For example, De Loonse en Drunense Duinen at walking distance from the farm, with cosy restaurants on the edge of the dunes such as De Roestelberg or Het Genieten. Visit one of the charming villages and terraces in Brabant or spend a day at the Efteling, less than a kilometre from the farm. Monkey Town and Jump XL are also nearby if the weather is a bit less pleasant. So there is something for everyone!
