De Smulhoeve

Not everything in Kaatsheuvel is a fairytale, because this incredibly beautiful and cosy horse farm really exists! This is where farmer Karin lives with her husband Dennis and their 3 teenagers Mees, Suus and Faas.

Farmer Karin is a hostess pur sang, fond of chatting and conviviality! Karin’s parents live next to the farm and especially farmer Cees, Karin’s father, you will often meet on the farm. This horse farm is home not only to the Smulders family’s horses and ponies, but also to three boarders. Today, Karin’s herd comprises more than 45 horses, ponies and lots of Shetlanders. Those sweet Shetlanders really play the leading role here. They are all super sweet and reliable ponies that are used to being around children.

The Smulhoeve is a true paradise for young horse girls and boys. Here you can rent your ‘own’ Care Pony and spend your holiday taking care of your pony. From cleaning and mucking out the stables to an hour’s ride a day. Even if you are not yet allowed or do not want to ride a pony, you can still enjoy your pony heart here. Book a Cuddle Pony and you can cuddle your pony endlessly during your holiday, pamper it and walk with it across the yard. You can also choose to join the pony walk to the Loonse and Drunense Dunes. So there is something for everyone.

Besides the ponies and horses, the farm is also home to lots of other sweet animals. Like the four cuddly alpacas with which you can take a walk around the farm. But also the little pigs Geer and Goor, the cute goats, chickens and the sweet cats and bunnies can’t wait to get a cuddle from you. A colourful mess of animals, you could say.

But at The Smulhoeve, it’s not all about the horses, ponies and animals. In fact, there are two camps in the family; the ‘horse camp’ and the ‘football camp’. Because besides their love for horses, they are all very active with football. So there is plenty of time and space here for a game of football. Or grab one of the go-karts to explore the yard, practice somersaults on the trampoline or get dirty in the sandbox. The yard offers hours of fun.

At FarmCamps De Smulhoeve, you are guaranteed not to get bored. And if you do want to leave the yard for once, you can cycle to the Efteling or walk to the Loonse and Drunense Dunes.
