This traditional dairy farm is situated in Zweeloo, Drenthe and honours all their cows with royal names – so here you can be sure to rub shoulders with queens and princesses!
Sitting at the end of a dead end road, this farm is uniquely situated for peace and tranquility with only meadows and forests for as far as the eye can see. Don’t be surprised if you wake up to find cows grazing next to your luxury tent – you are in the royal circle!
Together with their six young children, Farmer Johan is always on hand taking care of and enjoying the company of his cows and calves. Here your mini-farmers can really learn and experience life on a traditional dairy farm and before you know it – they’ll only want to drink milk fresh from the cow!
Never taking life too seriously, Farmer Johan is known to start water fights on sunny days or take you for a ride on his wagon into the woods and let you find your own way home!

This FarmCamps farm is located on a quiet cul-de-sac and is surrounded by meadows and fields. Within walking distance you will find a nice forest with fens and a hunebed.
The luxury tents are spread over 2 spacious fields and overlook the meadows with grazing cows and sheep or the cozy central camp(s) fire. There are play equipment on both fields so that you always have the kids in sight. How nice is that! There is also a field with 10 places where people can stay with their own camping equipment.
No farm adventure would be complete without learning a thing or two from the professionals. Farmer Johan and his wife Matine take this very personally! So you can expect to join Farmer Johan every day when he gets to work milking the cows or you can have a cuddle with the other animals in the petting barn.
If you are more in the mood to play then you won’t be disappointed! Here you’ll find go-karting, trampolines and a sand pit great for building sand castles. Or why not join your new farm friends to build a hut in the nearby woods? Here there are no rules – just enjoy yourself!
During check-in all children are offered a Farmer’s Passport from FarmCamps. These are loaded with fun and educational activities which they can do independently or together with their farmer. Your mini-farmers can discover and experience real life on a farm.
For each completed task they will receive a stamp in their Farmer’s Passport. When their work is done they will graduate with their own farmhand diploma!
During your stay Farmer’s wife Matine will show you the ropes with a guided tour of the farm. She will share with you the pleasure they get from working the land and raising their livestock.
Experience this unique chance to go where only farmers dare to go and soak up the special stories they´ll share with you about the farm they love and care for.
Together with Matine you will learn how to make delicious yogurt from fresh farm milk – and of course you will get to taste it too!
Every day you can accompany Farmer Johan to collect the cows in from the field and join him in the dairy to help him milk the cows. Free of charge of course!
Of course, the small animals also need to eat something every day. Join the tour along the animals and help farmer’s wife Matine or one of the children feed them.
If your mini-farmers are too small to take a walk to the woods then why not hire a kiddie trolley? They will love the ride!
What is more fun than ending the day altogether with a campfire? Enjoy the sunset whilst the kids are roasting marshmallows.
Do you like ponies too? Pony rides are regularly organised or there is the opportunity to brush Sofie and Polly. Keep an eye on the activity board! Would you like to go for a ride outside the yard? Ask for the possibilities.
In the nearby forest there is always material to build your own hut. With your new friends it will be a great adventure!
If you like to play, this is the place to be! You can play football, build huts, tear around on the go-karts or just splash around with sand and do somersaults on the trampoline.
Looking for ultimate relaxation? Well look no further because Farmer’s wife Matine is up and about at the crack of dawn and happy to deliver breakfast to your tent! Or maybe you fancy an evening BBQ? Not to worry, she will organise this for you. And of course there is always the small on-site farm shop where you can pick up your basics and a few treats.
No one likes going home with a bag of dirty washing, so we recommend you order the towel bundle and rent some genuine FarmCamp overalls for the kids. Your mini-farmers will not only look great but their clothes will not get so dirty either!

A deliciously fresh farmers breakfast delivered to your tent including fresh bread, milk, juice, yoghurt, eggs (you cook these to your own liking) and of course a variety of condiments.

Watching other families enjoy themselves here shows us how few leave the farm since there is so much to see and do. Here the kids are in their element and don’t have time to get bored! That´s why the parents are having a great time too.
But if you do want to discover the local environment that Drenthe offers then you’ll find natural beauty spots, picturesque and quaint villages together with plenty to entertain the kids. There’s something for everyone here!
The Kibbelkoele is an artificial lake near Drenthe and nestled in the Sleenerzand woods. At less than 10km away from the farm this is a lovely place to relax, swim, play and sunbathe. There is a kiosk for light refreshments and toilets also.
In the village, a few kilometers from the farm, you’ll find this swimming pool with one large pool (25 meters long), a separate paddling pool and some awesome waterslides.
Want more indoor swimming fun? Then you should head off to Emmen where you’ll find the Aquarena swimming and wave pool, including an 80 meter long water slide, white water creek, Splash Island for the kids and a whirlpool for mum and dad.
At 20km from the farm, in the heart of the Drenthe village of Exloo is Kabouterland; a fun day out full of gnomes, trolls, animals and plenty of indoor and outdoor playgrounds.

Pull on your bearskin and take a pre-historic trip back in time to when the first settlers arrived in Drenthe. Borger, where Hunebedcentrum is situated, offers a wide variety of educational activities and outdoor fun, including a large selection of pre-historic dolmens.

Orvelte is one of the most beautiful villages in Drenthe and presents itself as an outdoor museum. In this lively village you will experience history firsthand including beautiful Saxon farms and live demonstrations of ancient crafts.
Step back in time at the open air museum ‘Ellert & Brammert “Schoonoord”! This museum lets you relive the olden days in south east Drenthe. Legend has it that the giants Ellert and Brammert used to raid the surrounding area but thankfully now they stand at the entrance of the museum.
In the middle of Drenthe lies the Westerbork memorial center depicting Dutch war time under occupation, where between 1942 and 1945 more than 100,000 Jews, Sinti and Roma were deported to camps in Eastern Europe. The history of Westerbork is represented by means of photographs, documents, drawings, paintings, images, maps, and objects.
