Fun Family Farm Holidays

Camping on a farm is a unique experience for the whole family – a special holiday to remember for years to come. Whether you choose a week, a midweek, or just a weekend away, it's all possible!

Wake up to the sound of a crowing rooster and mooing cows. After a leisurely breakfast in your charming glamping tent, immerse yourself in farm life all day long. From feeding and caring for the animals to helping with tasks in the fields and playing in the hay barn, there's plenty to do. Most evenings end around the campfire with the entire family.

Farm life requires hard work – you’ll understand that soon enough! The farmer will certainly need your help with tasks like mucking out the stables and feeding the animals. But don’t worry – there’s so much more to do on the farm. We’ve rounded up the best activities for you to enjoy. And of course, there’s also barbecuing, cheese fondue nights, building treehouses, riding bikes on the dirt track, playing in the hayloft, swinging, go-karting, and football!

1 – Earn Your Farmhand Diploma

Let’s start with an activity available at all our farms: earning your farmhand diploma. When you check in, kids receive a Farmers Passport from FarmCamps. It contains fun and educational tasks and activities they can do independently or with the farmer. For every task they complete, they earn a stamp from the farmer. Once all tasks are completed, they’ll receive the official farmhand diploma!

2 – Walk with Alpacas

At FarmCamps Alpaca Vorstenbosch, you can take a scenic walk with the whole family – and an alpaca! During the walk, Farmer Willem-Mathijs will share fascinating facts about alpaca behaviour, helping you get to know their personalities. At FarmCamps De Bosrand, the alpacas also enjoy strolling through the beautiful woods around the farm, nibbling on leaves along the way.

3 – Cow Cuddling

At FarmCamps Den Branderhorst, you can experience the relaxing joy of cow cuddling. Join Farmer Eddy for a workshop and learn all about cows. Afterwards, you’ll head into the barn or pasture, where the cows love to be cuddled.

4 – Walk with Ponies

Calling all pony lovers! At these farms, you can take a scenic route with your parents while riding a pony:

5 – Play Farmer's Golf

A family holiday wouldn’t be complete without a game of Farmer's Golf – a fun and sporty activity for all ages. At FarmCamps Hoeve Sonneclaer, you can play this entertaining game right in the meadow among the cows.

6 – Canoeing

Love active holidays? Some farms offer family canoeing days!

At FarmCamps Fleur Stables , you can use the canoe and rowboat for free in the canal near the farm or rent a sturdy motorboat.

At FarmCamps De Geele Bosch , you can rent canoes for exploring the beautiful surroundings from the Tjonger River.

At FarmCamps Stolkse Weide , you can use the farm's canoes to paddle through the nearby ditches and polders.

The romantic image of a dog running freely around the farmyard is a dream for many people. On a farm, they have plenty of space to sniff around and burn off their energy. Outdoor life with a little extra: farm holidays beyond the border

A farm holiday is all about being outdoors, animals, space and freedom. Children can get messy, discover where food comes from and spend their days playing in nature. That’s exactly why so many families choose a farm holiday close to home, in the Netherlands or just across the border in Germany. But sometimes there’s a desire to combine that farm feeling with a little extra: culture, sunshine and a different setting.

Farm life under the sun (even when you look a little further)

At FarmCamps, we believe in holidays close to home. Staying on a farm in the Netherlands or just across the border in Germany – that’s where it starts for us. But let’s be honest: sometimes you feel the urge to look a little further. And if you do decide to travel abroad, why not do it in a way that is just as pure and child-friendly as the farm holidays you already know?

No headless chickens, just farm life: this is what a family holiday really feels like

Many families know the feeling all too well. A holiday that begins with stress before it even starts. Rushed mornings at the airport, crowds at busy holiday parks and constant stimuli telling you not to miss out on anything. The result is a holiday that costs more energy than it brings.

At FarmCamps things work very differently. No headless chickens, just farm life. And you can take that quite literally. You wake up to the sound of chickens scratching around the yard, not the noise of hundreds of other holidaymakers. Your day begins at your own pace and you feel the calm return instantly. Whether you choose to stay with a farmer or in a luxury tent, FarmCamps is all about relaxing. You do not have to do anything, but you may do everything. Finally a holiday that feels the way a holiday is meant to feel.

FarmCamps starts partnership with Trees for All

At FarmCamps, everything revolves around being outdoors, discovering new things, learning and enjoying farm life. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to become an official Forest Partner of Trees for All from 1 January 2026. Over the next three years, we will plant at least 2,000 trees together, half of them in the Netherlands — creating our very own FarmCamps Forest. How great is that?
