Watching the World Cup on the farm: cheering between cows, chickens and camping fun

The World Cup has started! That means orange flags, excited faces, cheering in front of the screen and, of course, hoping the Dutch national team will go far. But what if you are enjoying a farm holiday during the World Cup? No worries, at many FarmCamps farms, the Oranje matches are being taken into account.

Because let’s be honest: what could be more fun than feeding the animals, playing on the farmyard or roasting marshmallows by the campfire first, and then watching the match together? Watching football on the farm may be a little different from watching it at home on the sofa, but it is just as much fun.

Watching Oranje during your farm holiday

For the Dutch national team matches, we asked our farmers what the possibilities are. At some farms, all Oranje matches can be shown. At some locations, this is only possible for specific matches, and at other farms it depends on guest interest.

Good to know: the possibilities may differ per farm. Do you want to be sure whether you can watch the match during your stay? Please check with the farm in advance or contact our customer service.

These farms can show all Oranje matches

The following FarmCamps farms have indicated that all Dutch national team matches can be shown:

FarmCamps Looveld
FarmCamps Breehees
FarmCamps Smulhoeve
FarmCamps Bosrand
FarmCamps Fleur Stables

So you do not have to choose between farm fun and football fun. First enjoy playing outside, cuddling animals or helping out on the farm, and then cheer for Oranje together. That way, your holiday on the farm suddenly becomes a little bit of a football holiday too.

These farms show specific matches

At some farms, it is possible to watch specific Oranje matches.

Only the match on 20 June at 19:00:

FarmCamps Alpaca
FarmCamps BoeBaDoe

The matches on 14 June at 22:00 and 20 June at 19:00:

FarmCamps Hoeve Luyterheyde
FarmCamps Kamperhoek

Perfect if you happen to be staying at the farm on those dates. And let’s be honest: watching an evening match after a day full of fresh air, farm animals and muddy boots feels extra cosy.

Maybe possible, depending on guest interest

At these farms, the possibilities depend on how many guests are interested. If there is enough enthusiasm, something may be organised:

FarmCamps Buitenhoeve
FarmCamps Kalverliefde
FarmCamps De Verloren Kost
FarmCamps Holzik Stables
FarmCamps Bonte Fries
FarmCamps Den Branderhorst
FarmCamps Kooij Hoeve
FarmCamps Oranjepolder

Are you staying at one of these farms and would you like to watch Oranje? Let the farmer know in time. Who knows, a cosy FarmCamps fan zone might pop up on the farmyard.

Unfortunately, some farms cannot show the matches

At a few farms, it is unfortunately not possible to show the matches. Of course, you can often still follow the match yourself on your phone, tablet or laptop. And otherwise, there is plenty of other fun to be had on the farm. From go-karting to feeding animals and from playing in the hay barn to relaxing at your luxury tent.

A football holiday with a farm twist

Whether you are glued to the screen, just want to keep an eye on the score or are mainly coming for peace, space and animals: at FarmCamps, you are in the right place. The children can enjoy themselves on the farmyard, you can enjoy the outdoor life and when Oranje plays, the farm might turn just a little bit orange.

Haven’t booked your stay yet? Discover how much fun a farm stay can be, read more about staying at a cosy farm camping, or plan a lovely weekend getaway among the animals, green fields and maybe even a good dose of Oranje excitement.

So pack your orange shirt, get your boots ready and practise your loudest cheer. Hup Holland, let’s cheer moo-velously loud!

FarmCamps has entered a new chapter. The Dutch market leader in farm based glamping has been acquired by siblings Bram and Alette Bastiaansen. Alette Bastiaansen will take on the day to day leadership of the company, while Bram Bastiaansen will be involved as an investor.
