Oranjepolder

Arable farm in Arnemuiden, Zeeland

Sleep like a king at FarmCamps Oranjepolder!

Meet Sentine, Gavin and their three children Jacob, Alice and Tobias. This lovely couple got to know each other in a construction site in Middelburg. He was the archaeologist and she was the intern. Now they are the proud residents of one of the largest historic farms on Walcheren, declared the most beautiful yard in Zeeland in 2019.

For centuries, this former farmstead was leased as the Crown Estate of the Oranges. In 1990 it became the property of Jo and Tineke, Sentine’s parents. They have built the farm and campsite into what it is today. In 2018 they handed over the baton to Sentine, but you can certainly still see them helping on the farm.

Farmer Sentine you see daily on the farm. When she is not growing 40(!) hectares of wheat, potatoes, sugar beets, onions or maize, she is busy with the campsite and its guests. Gavin still works as an archaeologist and you generally see a little less on the farm, but during the holidays he likes to take out his metal detector to search for treasures in the fields with the kids. How cool is that!

And it doesn’t stop here. How about the pigs, chickens, sheep, goats, geese, cats and rabbits that need to be fed? Or tearing endlessly across the yard with one of the dozens of go-karts or bicycles? And in good weather you can easily reach the Veerse Meer or one of the beautiful beaches of Walcheren, although we have a ‘dark orange’ suspicion that you can hardly leave the yard of this extremely hospitable and beautiful farm!

Endless go-karting around the barn

Where do i sleep

The Oranjepolder, which was reclaimed in 1618, is located on Walcheren in Zeeland between the beautiful Veerse Meer and Middelburg. And in this former Crown Estate of the Oranjes is the showpiece and national monument of the Oranjepolder farm, home to farmer Sentine and archaeologist Gavin.

At Oranjepolder you can choose from 2 different luxury tents. There are 4 luxury Safari tents with private toilets. You shower in the old pig sty, which has been completely converted into a sanitary building and is wonderfully heated. In addition, there are also 4 luxury Bartents with private toilet and bath, not to mention a dishwasher in the fully equipped kitchen. So plenty of choice.

This FarmCamps farm is located on a quiet road and is surrounded by meadows and fields. Less than 2 km away is the Veerse Meer, where you can enjoy swimming and water sports and which, because of the shallow banks, is ideal for families with children.

In the yard is the family house and the beautiful huge barn. Behind and next to the large monumental barn are four fields. On the quiet rear field are the 8 luxury Safari and Bartents with a wide view over the arable land.

The field at the front and the central field directly behind the barn offer space for guests with their own camping equipment. The playground equipment is also located on the central field, so that the kids are always ‘visible’.

Fun & Educational

Your farming adventure is of course only complete if you also learn something on the farm. And farmer Sentine personally takes care of that. Farmer Sentine will teach you all about the wheat, potatoes, sugar beets, onions and maize she grows. And father Jo, a farmer in heart and soul, lends a hand and likes to talk about his profession. In addition, you can also help feed the chickens, sheep, goats, geese and pigs that walk around the cuddle meadow every day.

If you prefer to play, then you will certainly enjoy yourself on the farm. Race around the yard with your go-kart or bicycle. Countless laps around the barn: who is the fastest or with a group behind each other. Climb on the playground equipment and slide down the slide. See who can jump the highest on the trampoline and bake cakes in the sand heap or play football. Is the weather worse? Then, in part of the large barn, a recreation room has been set up with a Hay Hay Play Area, a dress-up box, a shuffleboard and a table tennis table. Everything is possible and allowed.
