Camping on the farm is educational and a joy for children

If you really want to make kids happy, put them among cows, chickens, and muddy puddles. Seriously. Forget that holiday park with slides and animation teams – on the farm, they’ve got their own kind of entertainment. Think feeding goats, collecting eggs, brushing ponies, and romping in the hay. And the best part? They actually learn something too. Without even realizing it.

Get involved and stay active

Kids will never be bored on the farm. At many places, they can even help the farmer out. Bring in the cows from the pasture, learn how to milk, help feed the animals, or hop on the tractor for an adventure. And who knows, by the end of the week they might even earn a real farmer’s diploma. How cool is that? Meanwhile, you can relax in a hammock with a coffee, a book or a newspaper, and nothing but mooing cows and chirping birds around you. Time to pack a good weekend bag and head out with the whole family to enjoy the freedom of nature.

The food is always fresh

Another big perk of staying on a farm? The food. No plastic-wrapped breakfasts, but a fresh egg from the chicken, milk from the cow your kid just cuddled, and jam made from the fruit growing on the tree behind your tent. It tastes better and feels better.

Take care of your own animal

For kids who’ve always dreamed of having a rabbit, pony, or even a cow – this is pure heaven. On many farms, they can care for their own animal during the holiday. Brushing, feeding, cuddling, and maybe even taking their new best friend for a walk. And yes, it’s just as adorable as it sounds.

Camping or a little more comfort?

Got your own tent, camper, or caravan? Then a farm campsite is perfect. Prefer a real bed and not messing around with tent pegs and guy lines? Glamping might be more your style. Luxury tents with their own kitchen and often even a private bathroom. Just pack your suitcase and go.

There are even glamping spots that take you back to basics. No electricity, no modern fuss. Candlelight, cooking over a wood fire, and cozy evenings around the campfire. Honestly, it’s kind of nice to unplug for a while.

Prefer a roof over your head?

If camping’s not your thing at all, don’t worry – there are plenty of farms with chalets, holiday homes, or even B&Bs. You get all the charm of farm life, but with walls, a couch, and a warm shower. For many parents, it’s the perfect mix.

Not just fun, but educational too

Besides all the fun on the farm, kids also pick up valuable lessons. They learn where their food comes from, how to treat animals kindly, and why playing outside is way more fun than Netflix. And the best part? They’re having the time of their lives – without you needing to plan a packed schedule.
