Holiday on the farm? Here’s why it’s so much fun

Why choose a farm holiday? Because it’s completely different from a standard getaway. No crowded boulevards or overbooked hotels, but fresh air, animals all around and plenty of space. It’s a place where you can relax and still stay active. You’ll return home with stories you’ll never forget – and with kids who won’t stop talking about their farm adventures for weeks.

Experiencing farm life up close

On the farm you don’t just sleep in a tent – you live right in the middle of it. In the morning you hear the cows moo, drink milk that was just freshly collected and maybe even stir your own jar of homemade jam. Children often receive a Farmer’s Passport full of tasks upon arrival and rush out to feed animals or carry hay. With a backpack packed with boots, a raincoat and some treats, they’ll spend hours exploring, going on treasure hunts or cuddling animals. While you enjoy a quiet coffee, they start to feel like real little farmers. After a few days, it feels like you’ve lived there for years.

Animals make the holiday complete

Cows, goats, chickens, sheep and rabbits guarantee endless fun. Some farms even have ponies that children can help take care of for a few days. The best part is there’s always something to do – and they learn a lot along the way. A fun cowboy bag filled with carrots or hay makes feeding the animals extra exciting. Meanwhile, you can open a book while the kids run around outside discovering their new favorite animal.

Food at its freshest

On the farm, food tastes the way it’s meant to. Milk that was still in the cow this morning, eggs you’ve just collected from the coop, and vegetables picked fresh from the garden. Sometimes kids can even help with the harvest – and suddenly they truly understand where their food comes from. Simple and delicious.

The magic of being outdoors

Just a few days on the farm gives you more energy than you expect. Fresh air, green fields and a mind that finally feels clear. Kids chase chickens, play in the mud and stay active all day without even noticing. You just join in – walking or cycling – without it ever feeling like exercise.

Active and relaxed at the same time

A farm holiday is the perfect mix of activity and relaxation. During the day you help with the animals, maybe ride on the tractor or take a long walk through the countryside. By evening, the kids are happily exhausted and fall asleep in no time. And you finally have time to enjoy the peace, a good book or simply a glass of wine by the tent.

Less screen time, more fun

Life on the farm takes place outdoors. Tablets, phones and TVs suddenly become far less interesting. Kids discover that chasing chickens or building dens is way more fun than watching a video. And the best part? They figure it out all by themselves – without you having to say a word.

Unique yet affordable

Staying on a farm feels like a special kind of holiday, but it often costs less than a big holiday park or a trip abroad. You sleep in a comfortable safari tent or a cozy farm apartment and have everything you need. From fresh produce to plenty of play space for the kids, it’s simple yet truly special.

Learning by doing

The farm is one big classroom – but without desks. Children learn how milk is made, why bees are so important and what it takes to run a farm. By getting their hands dirty and joining in, they remember the experience far better than something they’d read in a book.

New friends and togetherness

It’s easy to connect with other families on the farm. Kids make new friends in no time, while you’re soon sharing a coffee with other parents as the little ones play together. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and everyone quickly feels at home.

Safe and carefree

A farm is safe and child-friendly. No busy roads, no dangerous playgrounds. Kids have all the space they need to run around, take care of animals and create their own adventures. And you can relax, knowing they’re happily entertained.
