Why life on the farm is waaaaay better than in the city 😉

Our farmers have known for a long time: life on the farm is wonderful. The peace of nature, being outdoors a lot and really experiencing the changing seasons. Our farmers wouldn't trade it for anything. And we also have to secretly admit that life on the farm has stolen our hearts. A stay (long or short) on the farm is a unique experience. We'll tell you why!

1 - Slow living

No rush, no alarm clock, no morning rush. Life on the farm is relaxed. You can wake up quietly in the morning. Maybe a little earlier by a crowing rooster or a mooing cow, but who wouldn't want that? You have a quiet breakfast at the tent (a very nice glamping tent) and discuss with the family what you would most like to do today. Maybe you want to go for a run, read a book or explore the area. It's all possible. The children can, if they want, go out with the farmer to do a job on the land or to take care of the animals. Nothing is required, everything is allowed.

2 - In the middle of nature

Our farms are located in different places in the country. For example, we have farms close to the forest, close to the beach or in the countryside. Different, but actually very much the same. Every farm is quiet and the nature is beautiful. And a bit of nature every now and then is good for everyone. A few days in nature provides relaxation and boosts your creativity. Imagine: you wake up and hear nothing at all and look outside into the green landscape where the dew slowly disappears. Yes, that's right.

3 - Living with animals

Let's be honest: in the city we don't get much further than dogs, cats, rabbits and maybe a stray chicken. On the farm, animals are very important. You will experience it all: you can help milk cows, the children can cuddle rabbits for hours, feed goats and brush horses. On two of our farms it is even possible to have a pony to care for. Read more about our farms with horses here.

4 - No day is the same

A beach holiday is great fun, but of course quite predictable. On the farm, no day is the same. A calf could be born... And whether the cows and horses can go outside and chores need to be done in the fields depends entirely on the weather. In short, there is no better place where you can completely escape the daily grind and completely surrender to the rhythm of the day.

5 - No iPad for a while

So important that it deserves an extra cup. The big advantage of life on the farm is that the children no longer watch an iPad. (Past results do not guarantee future results :-)). There is so much to experience that the iPad is no longer interesting for children. Because who wants to watch an iPad when you can go-karting, swinging or building tree houses. And what do you think of collecting eggs, milking cows, making cheese, helping the farmer. And - don't tell anyone - a nice bonus for parents: a holiday on the farm means that you don't have to worry about your children.

6 - Delicious food

Another advantage of living on the farm: the food is delicious! Not only because you are outside all day and therefore get very hungry. You can of course also enjoy fresh milk, farmer's cheese, eggs, home-made farm ice cream and pancakes baked with flour and milk from the farm.

And, ok: there are also cozy Dutch fries evenings and cozy pizza evenings. Not unimportant of course!

Which animals live on the farm?

Handy, on our special search & book page you can select by animal. This way you can immediately see which animals live on the farm where you would like to go. You can also select 'own cuddly pony', 'own care pony' or 'horse riding lessons'.

Camping on the farm is educational and a joy for children.

If you really want to make kids happy, put them among cows, chickens, and muddy puddles. Seriously. Forget that holiday park with water slides and animation teams – on the farm, they've got their own kind of entertainment. Think feeding goats, collecting eggs, brushing ponies, and romping in the hay. And the best part? They actually learn something too. Without even realizing it.

Luxury camping at the glamping site on a farm.

Camping on a farm? It might sound old-fashioned, but it’s not as bad as you think. This isn’t your typical campsite where you walk around with a toilet roll under your arm or hear your air mattress deflate at night. Here, it’s all about glamping. In other words, camping with a bit of extra luxury. Think of a comfy bed, your own toilet, a small kitchen, and sometimes even a hot tub next to your tent. You’re right in the heart of farm life, but without sacrificing comfort.
